Haggart was born at Apple Hill, Ontario, Canada, on November 18, 1865, and passed from this life at his home in Barnum on Monday afternoon, January 1, 1940 following an illness of brief duration. He had attained the age of 74 years, one month and 13 days. Mr. Haggart came to the United States from Canada 58 years ago and after a few years residence in Michigan, he moved to Duluth, where he lived for some years. He then lived in North Dakota for a while, and the past 21 years has made his home in this community. He leaves to mourn his sad departure, his wife, Elizabeth, to whom he was united in marriage 48 years ago at Duluth; also four daughters, Mrs. Laura Kirk, Mrs. Jeanette Gillies and Miss Kathleen Haggart, all of Barnum, Mrs. R. Wekseth of Moose Lake; 13 grandchildren, one brother, James Haggart of Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, besides other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral Services at the Goodell Funeral Chapel this Thursday at 2:00 p. m., Albert Adolfson of St. Cloud officiating. Burial in the family lot in Riverside Cemetery, Barnum. The Herald joins in extending sympathy.

  (Research):Found in the 1905 MN state census at 411 E 8th St. This is two doors down from Oscar and Bertha Dittman at 407 E. 8th St. Found in the 1910 census in Duluth at 411 E 8th St. with 5 kids, sister-in-law, Phoebe, Nephew Elliot L., and neice Isabell J. Donald had already left her. Shows 7 births, 5 living. Found Malcolm and Stanley in the 1920 census in Minot, ND. Malcolm in a widower. Strange: Found Malcolm and "Lizabith" in the 1920 census in Kalavala, Carlton, MN. Catherine [Kathleen?], 13 <1907> is the only child living with them.
