DEATH: Info from the Glengarry News, 24 Oct 2001, pg. 7, Maxville col.
      Life-Long Maxville resident passes away.
Maxville lost a life-long and one of its best known residents last Thursday in the person of Vernon Campbell. He died suddenly at home after a period of poor health which he rarely talked about and which is fought as his doctors dictated.
Surviving are his wife, the former Ardis Morrison, daughter, Marilyn MacLeod, her husband Jack, and their three children, Matthew, Michael and Carolyn of Ottawa, daughter, Sherilyn, a member of the staff of the Maxville Public School, and sister, Helen Lemoine, Cornwall, and her two daughters, Carol Anne and Janet. Our sympathy is extended to them all.
Predeceasing Vernon were his parents, Dan and the former Rita Cumming, and his older brother, Archie.
Vernon will be missed by many. He was about town until the day before he died, he enjoyed bowling very much, just missed one day this fall and had paid his feels for the fall term, he was a regular member of the Coffee Club at the Manor, a faithful member of the United Church congregation, he still had connections with Highland Toyota and he was possibly the best story teller in the village.
He must have kept a list of birthdays because he remembered many with phone calls, including mine (Gordon Winter) and I tried to remember him eight days later. He was a good visitor and brightened the days of many friends.
Vernon's funeral on Sunday in his church was very well-attended, an indication of the esteem with which he was held by so many
