Notes - (Research):In 1920 Lawrence was working for the city. He married a widow with two children, Ethel, 10; and Clarence, 8. They were listed as step children, but had the Phoenix surname. Also living with them was Marguerite OToole, 4. Under relationship it said "in care of". Probably the daughter of Sinclair and Marion.
Found in the 1930 census in Burt, Alger, MI listed alone although it showed him married.
I am betting that his middle name was Alfred - There is an Alfred L. Phoenix buried in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Grand Marais, MI. Shows birth of 1 Jun 1896 and death of 25 Jun 1953. [http://www.genealogia.fi/emi/emi52ce.htm]. Also shows "Cook Co M 125 Inf 32 Div, WWI". Listed also is Louis, 30 Sep 1880 - 12 may 1898. Perhaps this is one of the 13 children.
